Writer Bio

I am in Pomona College, class of 2024, where I hope to major in Physics and Mathematics and minor in linguistics or cognitive science. I am also in the pre-engineering track where I hope to pursue biomedical engineering at Dartmouth College. I am also a new writer for the Dartmouth Undergraduate Journal of Science (DUJS). I am part of the Claremont Colleges Consortium Journal Club. I am also part of a physics and philosophy reading group where we meet and dissect physics concepts through a philosophical lens. In my spare time, I enjoy watching and playing soccer, reading and watching Sci-Fi, listening to podcasts and finally, getting stuck on those occasional Wikipedia rabbit holes and weirdly enough solving brilliant.org’s daily questions.

Research Interests

Engineering x Public Health

Recently, I have developed a passion for public health. I hope to utilize the knowledge that I’ll get from my engineering background to go ahead and better my home country’s public health system, specifically, through bettering the sanitary hygiene of young Kenyan girls in low-resource areas. Furthermore, I hope to use my (future) biomedical research to better Kenya’s healthcare infrastructure.

Cognitive Science x Linguistics

This is a relatively new interest that has been sparked by recently taking French and an introduction to cognitive science course. I have been fascinated by how the mind perceives language. Specifically, I would like to conduct research where I investigate the significance of bilingualism and trilingualism on mental health. Through this, I can better understand various cognitive conditions such as Broca’s Aphasia and also the relation of the aforementioned topics on cognitive decline as it involves cases related to dementia.

Theoretical Physics

I am fascinated by concepts like special relativity, general relativity, name it. Through my little way, I hope to engage in cosmology research through the study of black holes especially. It is my wish that someday, I shall contribute to the research that promotes the unification of general relativity and quantum mechanics, arguably the greatest struggle today among the physicist community.
