Writer Bio

I am in the class of 2022 at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and I am studying Integrative Biology with a minor in German. Beyond the classroom, I am a writer and the Public Relations Chair for the student-run, university-published neuroscience journal, Brain Matters. I am currently a research assistant at the Control & Network Connectivity Team (CONNECTlab) at the Beckman Institute of Advanced Science and Technology. On campus, I am the president of the UIUC Pre-PA Club, an IB Peer Leader, and a member of the Illini Club Tennis team. In my free time, I enjoy writing and hiking.

Research Interests

Dermatology

Research related to dermatology utilizes clinical trials and investigates diseases and disorders related to skin, hair, and nails. I am particularly interested in Dermatoepidemiology, which utilizes epidemiological methods to study skin diseases. I am also interested in studying cosmetic dermatology.

Mental Disorders

Mental illnesses include a wide array of conditions that impact emotion, thinking, mood, and behavior. I am particularly interested in studying the genomic data surrounding the biological origins of bipolar disorder. Additionally, I am interested in the different forms of depression and the distinctive aspects that can lead to the development of specific forms of depression.

Embryonic Stem Cells

Embryonic stem cells are pluripotent and are derived from the undifferentiated inner mass cells of a human embryo. I am interested in studying these specific stem cells as they could potentially help in finding cures for diabetes, cancer, spinal cord injuries, and much more.
