Writer Bio
I am in The University of Texas at Austin’s class of 2023, and I study environmental science with an emphasis in biological sciences. At UT Austin, I am a Campaigns Director for the Texas Undergraduate Research Journal, an event researcher for the Campus Environmental Center’s Environmental Justice Committee, and an elected member of the Dean’s Scholars Student Association. In my free time I enjoy drawing, reading, and drinking coffee!
Research Interests
Paleoclimatology
According to the Uniformitarian Principle, the natural laws of the past are the same as the present, and it can be applied to predict present and future conditions. In particular, I am interested in micro-invertebrate organisms as a proxy.
Ecology
The ecosystem is interconnected, and the biotic world interacts with the surrounding abiotic physical environment. I am interested in how organisms will interact with their environment, and how organisms composed of calcium carbonate will be impacted by increasing ocean acidification.
Environmental Justice
It is not enough to report the science behind environmental changes, and action must be taken. I am interested in Traditional Ecological Knowledge and how it can be taught alongside science to understand the changing world and human’s connection to the environment.
